Let’s Go Fly A Kite

April, 2014: April 1st has come and gone and it is windy here. I flew my kite last evening with my grandson. Let’s go fly a kite, up to the highest height, let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring!

I just returned from teaching a week long class at Hudson River Valley Workshops in Greenville New York and had the best class. It was Personal Series and everyone created such different works, all great, and developed their personal voice I worked on a new series right along with them and created these 5 pieces developing the still life through painted canvases that were cut up then stitched together to make the composition then quilt it and stretch them on a frame. What fun we all had.

On the 11th I head up to Gateway Colorado for the 6th annual Alegre Retreat. I am looking forward to working with the other teachers and getting together with all of the students. For more information on Alegre Retreat please visit our site at www.alegreretreat.com.

The rest of the year is laid out for me. Lots of teaching and quilting in between. A big family wedding in June then a family reunion in July, never enough family get togethers for me. I am teaching in South Africa in July which I am very excited about, never been there and again some family and friends joining me after it is over to do some sightseeing. Then home for more time in the studio and more teaching on the road. Then Houston Quilt Festival and Art Quilt Tahoe and then I am done for the year and ready for the holidays. Please check out my itinerary and maybe you could join me in a class?!

Have a wonderful Easter and happy Quilting!

First Of February

February, 2014:

It is the first of February at this writing and there is fresh snow on the ground. Quiet a shock after teaching in Ontario, California at Rd to California and then in Scottsdale at Quilting in the Desert. So there is a fire in the fireplace and I am happy to be home for 7 weeks in a row. I am planning on working hard to finish a couple of quilts and to paint with wild abandon as well. My online courses are going well. Everything is right to settle in and enjoy some time at home with my family.

thanks for checking in.

The Start Of A New Year

January, 2014: The start of a new year. I am really looking forward to this year. I am spending some time on the road teaching and a lot of time in the studio this year. On the road highlights will be Rd to California and Quilting in the desert later this month. Two weeks away teaching in a row but then home in the studio for the month of February. March I get to go to Greenville New York for the quilting workshops at Hudson River Valley, one of my favorite spots that I get to teach at once a year.

April is my Alegre Retreat then in July I am going to South Africa and when I am done with the teaching some family and friends are joining me for a safari and touring!! Mixed in with all of that is making log cabins with my sisters in January and in May we make patriotic log cabins for our fine service men, a wedding and a family reunion as well. I am starting a new set of online courses that I really enjoy in January and then again in June. I am painting on Wednesday with my good friends in one of our studios to inspire and critique each other. That is always fun. Walking my dogs and generally enjoying life. New years resolution is to be grateful and happy.

Happy New Year to all of you.
