Seemed Like a Marathon

November, 2014: I have returned from what seemed like a marathon teaching schedule. Houston Quilt Festival was super.

I got to visit with my two best quilting friends Libby Lehman and Yvonne Porcella along with a ton of others. My classes were full and fun and the food was fantastic.

We had a booth for Alegre Retreat and my best girlfriend Randalyn Perkins came to help me with the booth when I was in class, Maureen Hendricks was there too, she is the hostess of the Alegre Retreat. www.alegreretreat.com
KatiepmThen directly from Houston to Art Quilt Tahoe which is in the most beautiful location right on the lake.

Great class, small but powerful and we had a great time.
Each morning was fill with an early morning walk with Sue Benner and others who would brave the cold early morning.

Now home for the winter season. I give a two day class on a new subject – Artfull log cabins- at the Santa Fe Quilt shop and that should be good. Then Thanksgiving in Northern California. We are going house hunting!! Going to move back to my home town of Eureka California. I am so excited. So if you know of anyone who would like to live in Santa Fe I have a beautiful home for sale complete with the most wonderful studio and a huge shop for a mechanic or a sculptor. 11 acres of New Mexico land with dramatic views. So now I am working on staging my home and packing up.

I am having a sale of all of my quilts! so go to the quilts for sale page and take 40% off the prices you see there.

So now to a few months of being home and enjoying my studio and my paint studio.

Happy Thanksgiving

I Love Fall!

October, 2014: It is fall. I love fall! I love the cooler temperatures and my walks with my dogs out in all of the colorful leaves. My quilt for Quilt National was not chosen for the show. Bummer here is the quilt I call it Terraqueous – of land and water.

I am organizing for two big shows. The Houston Quilt Festival where I will be teaching two, two day classes, giving a lecture and also helping man the booth with my best friend Randalyn Perkins for the Alegre Retreat.

We will be in booth 1736 so stop by to see us and find out all about Alegre Retreat, also check us out at www.alegreretreat.com and on Facebook.

Then after the Houston Show I fly directly to Tahoe for the Art Quilt Tahoe quilt conference. One of my favorites. Then it will be time to slow down and enjoy the winter season. One of my favorites because there is not much teaching and traveling in the month of November and December and I get to spend a lot of time in my studio. I would like to get back to painting again so I am planning on fixing up the garage, where I paint, so that I can paint through the winter cold. Just a little heater should fix that up. So Enjoy the winter and keep in stitching and creating.

Johannesburg South Africa

August, 2014: I have just returned from Teaching in Johannesburg South Africa!! I am so thankful for what I do for a living because it takes me to so many amazing places and this one has got to be the top of my list. I taught three classes, Watercolor to Quilt for two days, Composition for one day and Fractured Landscapes for two days. The students were very enthusiastic and very talented and fun fun fun!!!
Then my cousin Holly, her daughter Kristin and husband Rob and my best friend Randi and her man Brian joined me for some sight seeing. First we went to the Simbavati Lodge near Krueger Park for the most amazing safari and we were able to see the big 5 and many more animals.

We then went to Cape Town where I worked very hard to overcome my terrible fear of hights!! Well first we climbed up and down Table Mountain, look that one up that was quite the hike straight up and down (cable car was closed for repair) took us 7 hours!!! Then at the Botanical Gardens we crossed the Canapy bridge at the top of the trees!! look at me I kept saying as I stood out at the farthest edge. Then at the Cape of Good Hope we were Geocaching and there was one way out on the tip and I got there sometimes crawling but look at me I said as we got to the very most southern tip way above the crashing waves!! More work to be done on the hight thing but wow what a trip. Penquin watching, wine tasting, hiking, laughing and crying!! what a trip now back to work or I will never finish this piece that I am making for this years Quilt National.
You can see more photos from the trip on my facebook page.
