March Has Come In Like A Lion

March, 2015: March has come in like a Lion with lots of snow and cold weather. I taught my new Artful Log Cabin class at Santa Fe Quilting on the two most snowy days in a long time but the quilters got through and we had a wonderful time. I love teaching the artful log cabin class everyone’s piece always turns out great! See pictures of mine in my January post.

Still working on selling my house, staging the guest house now then a trip to the dump and all should be in order for the big crowds that will come house hunting soon!! Then we will be off to California to be close to family and friends. We will miss our family and friends here in Santa Fe but we have several good excuses to come and visit this wonderful place.

I am also preparing to shoot to video on line courses for American Quilters Society. I am very excited about that we are doing two classes. One is Color Theory and the other is Artful Log Cabins. Lots of prep work but it is also fun playing with all of the fabrics and designs that we will be showing. Not sure of the start up date yet, we are shooting the first of April, check back and I will post the particulars.

I have a new on line course that I run myself on working in a series. We are doing the very first one, I have 18 students and they are all creating wonderful one of a kind series. Both of the one line course that I run will be starting again in June. Color and Composition and Design and Working in a series. If you think you might be interested in either course send me an email and I will add you to the list to send out a reminder when they will start. Hope you are keeping warm and dry.

love and hugs

Happy New Year To All

January, 2015: Happy New Year to all. 2014 was a very good year and I am looking forward to a great 2015. I will be doing lots of traveling and teaching which I love to do and lots of time in my studio which I love even more. I am developing a new class called Artful log cabins where you recreate a photograph with log cabin blocks. I love creating art quilts and I love making log cabin quilts so this puts the two together.

Here are three examples of artful log cabins.

My online course are going great! I have three starting in January and there are still spaces left, so let me know if you want to join us. Color, Composition and Design. 8 lessons, two weeks to create a quilt to answer the parameters in your own style then send an image to me for a critique. I am just starting a new online course on working in a series!! Very excited about that. It will be 5 assignments with three weeks to finish each step in the series. For more information go to teaching and pull down for online courses.

My Alegre Retreat which I run in Gateway Colorado is filling nicely and I am looking forward to teaching along side of some great artists, Joe Cunningham, Jane Dunnewold and Linda Colsh. For more information about Alegre Retreat the Art Quilters Getaway go to www.alegreretreat.com.

So many inspirations to get the creative juices flowing strong for 2015.

Merry Christmas

Drcember, 2014: November was a great month. I taught at Art Quilt Tahoe which was great as always. Lots of beautiful clean air, early morning walks, great students and lots of after hours fun. Thanksgiving was marvelous, a trip to northern California to spend the day with family and go house hunting! Even found a great place, now just have to sell my home here in Santa Fe.

I am starting my on line course, Color, Composition and design in January.

If you would like to join me for this fun and educational course for 8 lessons on formal art considerations go to teaching tab and sign up.

Looking forward to the month of December working in my studio, making a quilt for my cousin to cover her with love during her chemo treatments, two quilts lined up for my development of my new “Artful Log Cabins” class, too much fun, and working on a new big quilt based on my acrylic paintings.

Busy Busy but the very best kind of Busy.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas
