Interesting Times…

I am starting another set of my online courses for this interesting time that we all find ourselves in.

We are all social distancing and that means to a creative we will be in our studio. Some of you may have lots of projects to finish but others may be at a loss for what to do.

I will be running my Color and Composition course and my working in a series course with no deadlines.

What that will mean is you can work at your own pace, work fast, one class after the other back to back without waiting for the two week deadline for color and composition or the three week deadline for Working in a series. Or work when you can between other commitments. Final deadline will be the end of the year.

Let me know if you would like to sign up by emailing me at katiepm505@gmail.com or go to my web site at www.katiepm.com and register. The dates there may say June but we can start now so no worries.

Stay safe and sound in your studio and we will get through this together.

I have a new fabric line!

I designed this new line for Free Spirit Fabrics.

I love to paint!! So this collection is a direct result of some of my watercolor paintings and my acrylic paintings. Now I can use my “paintings” in my other passion, quilt making. I am so very excited to see my paintings in actual fabric and can’t wait to get my hands on them and make some cool stuff. Look for it at your favorite quilt shop!! These will be shipping to stores early December.

Summer is Drawing to An End…

… and I am ready for winter. It has been extremely warm in the California Northwest. I moved here from Santa Fe, New Mexico and looking forward to the cooler weather but no not this summer. Anyway…. I have been working away in my studio making lots of art, quiltings and paintings, and enjoying my time in the studio. I am in a resting period now as I have finished up all of my projects and waiting for divine inspiration for my next quilt. (with a lot of work creating ideas to help the divine to answer)I have applied to be one of one hundred artist to embellish an otter!! Humboldt State University Wildlife Dept. and the Ink People have joined to produce a public arts initiative – North Coast Otters. This will benefit the research at the university of our river otters. After much anticipation I just found out I am one of the chosen 100 artist!! Here is a picture of the three foot high fiberglass otters, my little sketch of what I intend to do with my otter, which is to cover him in bits of fabric bright color motifs. I am spending enjoyable time cutting out all of these little bits and pieces. So excited about this project. Check back next month to see the work in process or join me on Instagram or Facebook (katiepm) to follow my journey.
