Twisted Sisters Log Cabin Quilters

June, 2015: We had a great Memorial Day weekend up in Northern California with my sister and my cousin. We call ourselves the Twisted Sisters Log Cabin Quilters. So fitting on so many levels. We get together several times a year to make log cabin quilts together and on Memorial Day we make red white and blue patriotic quilts to give to our veterans to thank them for their service and to help them with their life. It is really fun and we do it to honor my Cousin Holly’s husband who was a Navy Seal and passed away three years ago. His Birthday is on Memorial Day weekend so several honors there.

We started on Friday night and ended Tuesday morning when we delivered 7 totally completed quilts from cutting to binding!! katiepm three quilting sistersTo the Veterans office at College of the Redwoods. We even got to gift one of them to the vet who works in the office. He was pleased and we were proud.

Here is a picture of the three twisted sisters with our 7 patriotic quilts.

March Has Come In Like A Lion

March, 2015: March has come in like a Lion with lots of snow and cold weather. I taught my new Artful Log Cabin class at Santa Fe Quilting on the two most snowy days in a long time but the quilters got through and we had a wonderful time. I love teaching the artful log cabin class everyone’s piece always turns out great! See pictures of mine in my January post.

Still working on selling my house, staging the guest house now then a trip to the dump and all should be in order for the big crowds that will come house hunting soon!! Then we will be off to California to be close to family and friends. We will miss our family and friends here in Santa Fe but we have several good excuses to come and visit this wonderful place.

I am also preparing to shoot to video on line courses for American Quilters Society. I am very excited about that we are doing two classes. One is Color Theory and the other is Artful Log Cabins. Lots of prep work but it is also fun playing with all of the fabrics and designs that we will be showing. Not sure of the start up date yet, we are shooting the first of April, check back and I will post the particulars.

I have a new on line course that I run myself on working in a series. We are doing the very first one, I have 18 students and they are all creating wonderful one of a kind series. Both of the one line course that I run will be starting again in June. Color and Composition and Design and Working in a series. If you think you might be interested in either course send me an email and I will add you to the list to send out a reminder when they will start. Hope you are keeping warm and dry.
